StartupStar is a simple, neat and handy tool that enables you to manage your system’s startup. It lets you control which applications start at the same time with your system, letting you remove or allow any of them. By using this handy tool you can detect and remove perilous Trojans, worms and other unwanted applications that are automatically loaded on system boot. It also helps you speed up the system boot time. It does that by letting you remove some of the applications that start with Windows. Their start can also be set to be delayed for the same reason: to allow the system to load faster.
StartupStar can be used with ease, even by complete beginners, as its interface is very simple, intuitive and self-explanatory. The fact that it categorizes the applications by their startup type (active startup, delayed startup, etc.) also helps a lot.
I also like about this tool the fact that it allows you to create a new startup entry completely from scratch, while being able to specify various advanced parameters (such as additional start arguments or setting a delayed startup) that the default methods of adding an application to the system startup don’t provide. There’s also a handy “firewall” that warns you when new entries are added to the startup list.
Though focused on providing increased security to your system, this startup manager doesn’t deal with Windows services and drivers which are commonly used by Trojans and other malware applications in order to infect your system, and this is quite a downside for this tool, in my opinion. Anyway, it’s a handy system startup manager with an affordable price.
